An Afternoon of Persian Music and Poetry

Join us for an enchanting afternoon of Persian music and poetry, featuring the works of Rumi, Hafez, and more, at a house concert in Nevada City, CA, featuring the internationally acclaimed singer Marjan Vahdat and poet, Zara Houshmand. We ask that you reserve your space with a free eventbrite ticket and pay the suggested donation of $25.00 at the door. Seating is limited and your eventbrite ticket will secure your space.

Doors are at 3:30. The event starts promptly at 4pm. Light appetizers will be served.

Parking is limited, so please carpool with friends.

Under the guidance of master voice teacher Marjan Vahdat, discover freedom of vocal expression through the exploration of short, and accessible Persian traditional songs that are built upon nuanced modes and soulful styles of ornamentation.

Singers of all backgrounds and genders are welcome to participate. These live-in-person workshops will be in a supportive, master-class format with all participants being invited to sing on their own and receive individual coaching. Attendance is limited to 20 participants.

In solidarity with the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, The Kitka Institute is pleased to host a vocal workshop with the extraordinary Persian vocalist, cultural activist, and masterful teacher Marjan Vahdat. The focus of this workshop series will be songs for the summer season with an emphasis on amplifying the voices of Iran's great female poets and musical culture-bearers.
